RACE REPORT | |
Saturday 11th
October. Day 1 of Bundaberg Central Queensland RM Championship
Nine Sailors
fronted up to the start line with the wind from the SE at 10-15Kn. Most sailed
with A rigs other than Bruce Yarrow who chose B rig on his Scrouge to set the
pace. Tim Arland and Col Cameron put in some good finishes holding second and
third at the end of the day. Mark Beneke was the big improver for the day. A
total of 20 races were completed. The Bundaberg Club set up a good course with
the triangle, loop, triangle managing to keep a good windward course throughout
the day. The weather was overcast after rain overnight. Looking forward to
having another good second day on Sunday with a forecast for similar conditions.
Sunday 12th
October Day 2 of the Bundaberg Central Queensland RM Championships
Day two
forecast was for 15/20 SE much the same as day one, Bruce Yarrow was unable to
sail because of family commitments so eight boats fronted the start line, half
the fleet choosing B rigs and the rest staying with A rigs, the first race got
under way at 9:30 am with Col Cameron setting the pace followed by Tim Arland
with ten races to run by lunch time, allowing the boys from Airley Beach and
Mackay an early start for home. Matt Hunter and Glen Foley were the great
improvers for the day, Yeoman Sands was the most disappointed sailor of the
fleet while leading in two of the races stalled at the last buoy and ended up
finishing mid fleet, winning the hard luck prize. Tim Arland won with Col
Cameron second and Bruce Yarrow hanging on to third place even though he did not
sail the second day. Glen Foley took out the Clubman class with Less Hunter
second and Ross Anderson winning the Sportsman award. The Bundaberg Club and
members can hold their heads up high for running a great event and thanks must
go to Garry Beatty doing a great job as P.R.O .
