Scratch racing Series round 7. 14 October 2007

Almost like summer today with very nice 8 knot breeze to start with that soon dropped to about 5 knots by the second or third race and the sun was out keeping it nice and warm without it being too hot.  The course was laid by Ian Ashe with a beat into the ENE to the right which remained there all afternoon only fluctuating slightly.

The starts were strongly contested with a slightly biased to starboard line but there was only two general recalls when a few got a bit pushy and tried their luck.  The OOD Ian Gilmore quickly put an end to the early starters having a go and recalled the lot.  Skippers settled down and enjoyed some close battles and a few calls at the windward mark with it being starboard rounding keeping all on the lookout, some touches made the mark spin which was a big giveaway.  Several skippers missed a race as can be seen in the scores due to various small problems.

We had 2 new members turn up today with one opting to stooge around and learn how to sail and the other Arthur Baird, pulled out early after his winch became tangled when the rope came off.  Better luck next time Arthur.

Once again another good day was had by all at our great venue with a good breeze and even better company.  Why not come and join us ?

Our next sailing day is 28th October starting at 1pm sharp.
