Another glorious day with winds from
the south east, “A” rigs were in order, however late in the afternoon the
wind increased to where the fleet should have changed down a rig. As we
only had 4 races to go everyone decided to stick with their “A” rigs which
made for some interesting antics. Numbers were down a little today with 8
boats racing. Today we ran 4 scratch races, 4 handicap races, and another
4 scratch races. Interesting to see newcomer Nick Fannin start to perform
as the wind increased posting 2 fourth placing’s and a fifth in the last
race. This is a huge improvement over recent placings .
Another previous low order finisher
to have a win today was Brian Leydon. Could it have anything to do with
the ‘TS2’ he has recently purchased. Charmaine Whites ‘Widget’ shows
flashes of good speed, just a bit more consistency should see her at the
pointy end of the field. At the front of the fleet were the usual
reprobates Brad Johnstone, Alan Walker, and Malcolm and Peter Kampe. Peters
new ‘Ghost’ seems to be getting faster every week, though today’s results
don’t seem to show it. I believe this is a boat with a very big future.
