Racing today started out in a very
light south easterly, moving to a north easterly later in the afternoon.
This made for a couple of interesting races where just getting to the
finishing line was a bit of a mission. However they say the cream raises to
the top and as usual the usual reprobates Brad Johnston, and Alan Walker
were at the front. Right there between them was Wynumm Manly visitor
Ashley Deeks. Right behind this group was John White.
Ashley continued in this vein with
positions from 1st to 4th for most of the afternoon.
Others to show consistency were Malcolm Kampe with a couple of wins and 2
second placing’s, Nick Fannin with 2 wins, and Brad Johnston with 2 wins.
Roger Taylor finished the day with 4 wins, and Alan Walker 1 win.
Mention should be made here about
the 20 second handicap system we are using. The fleet is split into two
groups. The first group starts on 20 seconds, the second group starts on
go. At the end of each race the whole fleet crossed the finish line within
10 – 15 seconds, making for very close racing. I believe the success is due
to less congestion on the start line and spreading the fleet a little at the
top mark.
