Susan McAnna
1972-2008
Sadly Susan passed away on the 24th of July. Although Susan was part of
the Radio Yachting community for only a few years she left an indelible
mark and will be missed by all.
Susan and husband Matthew joined Kogarah Bay Radio Yacht Club just after
the 2005 Nationals and immediately become valued members of the club.
Susan became one of the regular club sailors and won her fair share of
races. She was always quick to volunteer for any duty and her good
humour, intelligence and sunny disposition had a very positive effect on
the members.
Her generous nature soon had her volunteering to help at the NSW IOM GPs
and State Championships, where she took care of the fleet management,
results and many of the shore duties which help to make a regatta run
smoothly. Many a PRO’s job was made simple with her enthusiastic help
and support.
Susan became the NSWRYA Secretary/Treasurer for the 2006/7 year and the
Publicity Officer the following year, until she became too ill to
continue. The club secretaries would have been recipients of her
friendly and helpful emails and phone calls.
Sons, Sam 2 ½ and Kasey 9 months will miss a proud and caring mother.
Matthew’s mate has sailed a good course and our condolences go out to
him.
Susan, our sense of loss is considerable and it’s hard to believe you
are no longer with us. We will remember your generous spirit always.
