NSW Soling
State Championships. |
|
Were sailed at Terrigal
Lake hosted by Central Coast Radio Yacht Club. O.O.D. Allan Bicknell.
Although Saturday morning
started grey with light drizzle the Central Coast weather cleared by the start
of the first race and remained fine with variable winds from for the rest of the
series. The skippers from all over NSW were tested as the breeze ranged from
fairly solid to very light drifts over the two days.
As is the case with one
design yachts the racing was generally very close all weekend. Phil Page led at
the end of the first day with defending champion Robert Hales in second and
Frank Russell in third. Day 2 had lighter airs so the light weather sailors came
into their own.
At the end of 25 races
over the two days Frank Russell came out on top, winning seven of the ten on
Sunday, with Robert Hales second and Phil Page third all covered by a difference
of 23 points. Graham McKay was awarded the sportsmanship award and Ronald Notter
the best presented boat. Congratulations to all competitors and thanks to Allan
as OOD and Marilyn Russell as a very able assistant.
