NOTICE OF RACE

 

 

1. EVENT SCHEDULE

The RC Laser State Titles will be held April 19/20, 2008.  Briefing will commence at 9.30AM with a start time of 10.00AM. Racing will proceed until 12.30PM with a break for lunch between 12.30PM to 1.00PM. Racing will continue until completion of racing by 4.30PM on Saturday & 3.30PM Sunday. Results will then be tabled & a results ceremony will take place between 4.00pm to 4.30pm, Sunday 20 April.

 

2. VENUE

Rodd Point, on, or adjacent to Dobroyd Aquatic Club, Henley Marine Drive, Haberfield.

 

3. ORGANISING AUTHORITY

The Championships are organised under the overall authority of the Australian Radio Yachting Association (Incorporated)  (ARYA) and conducted by the NSW Model Yachting Association and its duly appointed Race Committee.

 

4. RULES

The regatta will be governed by The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing for 2005-2008 (RRS) as changed by Appendix E of the RRS - Radio Controlled Boat Racing Rules, this Notice of Race (NoR), the Sailing Instructions (SI), International Class Administration Rules, the Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS) and the respective International Class Rules.   The Sailing Instructions shall prevail in the event of conflict with this Notice of Race.

5. ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to financial members of ARYA (Inc) affiliated clubs and to members of a recognized Division Member of the International Sailing Federation-Radio Sailing Division.  All yachts must have a current registration certificate for the class entered.

 

6. REGISTRATION

Boats must be presented for registration by 9.00AM on the first day of the competition.  No boat will be eligible to race until it has completed this process.

 

7. EVENT CATEGORY AND ADVERTISING

The Championships are classified under the ISAF Advertising Code Regulation 20.3.1 (b) as Category C.

The Organisers reserve the right to advertising according to Regulation 20.3

 

8. SCORING AND RACING SYSTEM

The current Heat Management System (HMS) as approved by the ISAF-RSD will be used. Where there are less than 16 competitors, the event will be sailed in one fleet.

 

9. CHECKING OF BOATS PRIOR TO EVENT:

The Race Committee may direct that all boats entered in the event be checked for as follows;

a) Boat registration
b) Standard rudder servo and sail winch installed
c) No ‘sanding’ of hull
d) Standard sails used – approved “A”, “B”, “C” sails only

 

The use of ‘D’ sails – will be the subject of agreement from all registered entrants a decision will be made by 10th April as to whether to allow the use of ‘D’ sails at this regatta.

 

Random spot checks may be conducted throughout the duration of the event.

 

10. FREQUENCIES

Each competitor is required to nominate a minimum of three (3) frequencies with their entry. The listing of additional frequencies if available would be helpful. Permitted frequency bands are 27, 29, 36 and 40Mhz.

 

11. PROTESTS

A  Committee will be appointed to hear any protests arising from the event and may comprise competitors not involved in the incident.  RRS 61.2 and 62.2 may be replaced by a verbal notification and hearing if all parties affected by the incident agree.

 

The ISAF-RSD System for the Reduction of Protest Hearings (SYRPH) (Jan 1999) will apply to all protests.

 

12. ENTRIES

Entries must be made on the official entry form and forwarded to:

Entries will not be accepted from members who are un-financial at the close of entries.

 

The entry fee of $ 20.00 must accompany the entry form.  Cheques made payable to cash. Please do not send cash.  All entrants will need to provide their own lunch.  Biscuits and tea & coffee making facilities will be supplied on the day.

 

ENTRIES CLOSE on Friday April 4, 2008..

There may be provision for late entries.

 

13. PRIZES AND MEDALS

Medals will be awarded to places 1st, 2nd & 3rd. All competitors will receive a certificate of participation.

 

14. LOAN BOATS

A limited number of loan boats will be made available for the event by & at the discretion of the Dobroyd RC Laser Club for a fee of $40.00 per boat. Eligibility requirements apply as per clause 5 above. Requests for the use of loan boats must be directed to Cliff Bromiley on 02 9954 0755. Entrants will be required to collect their boat from Dobroyd RC Laser Club no later than April 13th & will be expected to participate in Club Sailing on this day. Loan boats are second hand & no guarantees of reliability or performance will be given.

 

Each entrant with a loan boat will be totally responsible for provision of batteries & for the maintenance & care of their boat prior to, during & after the event. The entrant will be responsible for reimbursing Dobroyd RC Laser Club the full cost of any damage or loss incurred. Each loan boat is to be washed & dried prior to handing back to the officers of the Dobroyd RC Laser Club at the completion of the event. 

 

15. LIABILITY

All those entering or taking part in these Championships do so at their own risk and responsibility.   The Australian Radio Yachting Association (Incorporated), NSW Model Yachting Association and any other parties involved in the organisation of this event disclaim:

 

Any and every responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and goods, both ashore and on the water as a consequence of entering or participating in the Championship covered by this Notice of Race.

 

At all times the responsibility for the safety of their boat and themselves plus the decision to

participate or continue must rest with the competitors.

 

By entering the event it is deemed that you accept these conditions.

Saturday evening of the event:

We have full use of the Dobroyd Aquatic Club facilities during this weekend. On the Saturday evening we plan to use the upstairs area to have drinks & a simple meal of fish & chips or pizza from local restaurants after the days sailing to unwind. .
