NOTICE OF RACE

1.    EVENT SCHEDULE

The 2007 EC12 Australian Championship will be held on the weekend of August 25th and 26th 2007.

The Regatta format will consist of a Fleet Racing series.

 

The Regatta Timetable will be:-

 

Saturday 25th

9.00     to   10.00 am      registration and checking

10.00   to   12.30 pm     fleet racing

12.30   to   1.15 pm       lunch

1.15     to   4.15 pm       fleet racing

 

Sunday 26th

10.00 am  to   1.00 pm   fleet racing

1.00         to    1.45 pm   lunch

1.45 pm   to    3.00 pm   fleet racing

3.30 pm  (approx)          presentations

3. ORGANISING AUTHORITY

The Championships are organised under the overall authority of the Australian Radio Yachting Association (Incorporated) (ARYA), the Australian Capital Territory Radio Yachting Association (Inc.), and conducted by the Canberra Model Yacht Club (Inc.) and it’s duly appointed Race Committee.

 

4. RULES

The regatta will be governed by The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing for 2005-2008 (RRS) as changed by Appendix E of the RRS - Radio Controlled Boat Racing Rules, this Notice of Race (NoR), the Sailing Instructions (SI), Australian EC12 Class Rules, and the Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS). The Sailing Instructions shall prevail in the event of conflict with this Notice of Race

5. ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to financial members of Radio Yacht Clubs and to members of a recognized Division Member of the International Sailing Federation-Radio Sailing Division.  All yachts must have a current registration certificate for the class entered.

 

6. REGISTRATION

Boats, together with their current registration certificate, must be presented for registration and check-measurement by 9.00 AM on the first day of competition.  No boat will be eligible to race until it has completed this process.

 

7. EVENT CATEGORY AND ADVERTISING

The Championships are classified under the ISAF Advertising Code Regulation 20.3.1 (b) as Category C.

 

The Organisers reserve the right to advertising according to Regulation 20.3

 

8. SCORING AND RACING SYSTEM

The current Heat Management System (HMS) as approved by the ISAF-RSD will be used. Where there are less than 16 competitors, the event will be sailed in one fleet

 

9. MEASUREMENT

The Race Committee and the EC12 rules review personnel, have determined that the 1990 Class Rules shall apply to all registered boats, and all registered boats will be eligible to compete in the regatta.

All sails will be checked for a measurers stamp.

All International Entrants will be eligible to sail with a boat currently registered in their home country and complying with that countries current class rules.

The Race Committee reserves the right, in consultation with the above mentioned personnel, to check any boat that appears to be outside a reasonable tolerance of the 1990 rules, at any time during the regatta.

Protests or concerns about boat eligibility from a competitor will not be accepted once racing has commenced.

 

10. FREQUENCIES

Each competitor is required to nominate a minimum of three (3) frequencies with their entry. The listing of additional frequencies if available would be helpful. Permitted frequency bands are 27, 29, 36, 40Mhz, and the new 2.4 Ghz.

 

11. PROTESTS

A Committee will be appointed to hear any protests arising from the event and may comprise competitors not involved in the incident.  RRS 61.2 and 62.2 may be replaced by a verbal notification and hearing if all parties affected by the incident agree.

 

Lodging of an official protest by a competitor (protestor) shall require the payment of a $5.00 fee to the Race Committee.

A successful outcome for the protestor shall result in a refund of the protest fee.

An unsuccessful outcome will have the protest fee added to the Canberra Model Yacht Club (Inc.) funds.

Entries will not be accepted from members who are un-financial at the close of entries.

The entry fee of $35.00 must accompany the entry form.  Cheques made payable to Canberra Model Yacht Club (Inc.) and marked “Not Negotiable”.  Please do not send cash. 

 

ENTRIES CLOSE on Friday 17th August 2007

Late entries may be accepted until Friday 24th August 2007 on payment of an additional fee of $10.00.

 

13. PRIZES AND TROPHIES

The EC12 Australian Champion perpetual trophy will be awarded to the overall winner.

Gold, Silver and Bronze medallions will be awarded to the top 3 place getters.

A Prize will also be awarded to the top 3 place getters

 

14. LIABILITY

All those entering or taking part in these Championships do so at their own risk and responsibility.   The Australian Radio Yachting Association (Incorporated), The Australian Capital Territory Radio Yachting Association, Canberra Model Yacht Club (Inc.) and any other parties involved in the organisation of this event disclaim:

Any and every responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and goods, both ashore and on the water as a consequence of entering or participating in the Championship covered by this Notice of Race.

At all times the responsibility for the safety of their boat and themselves plus the decision to participate or continue must rest with the competitors.

Lunch will be available at the venue on both days:-

Soft drink refreshment will be available at all times, both at the venue and in the control area $1.00 each
